Nyilasi was a member of several local amateur choirs. In this sketch, the CASE Male Choir of Hamilton is portrayed performing an excerpt from Joseph Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation”. Nyilasi catches the earnest efforts of the elderly choir members and their centred concentration on the conductor. The pianist appears peeking out from behind the upright piano, keeping an eye on the conductor with some alarm, suggesting that he is finding it difficult to keep in time.
The painting matches the graphite sketches TNYIL-122 “On Wings of Song” (circa 2006) and TNYIL-123 “Goin’ Home” (circa 2006).
All three works have the titles of the songs being performed as their titles.
