Winter Portrait
The heavy “drapery” of the winter coat and hat create an unusual portrait. India ink lines create the anatomical details in the face and hands. The “busy” lines and colours show Nyilasi’s love of a free approach to watercolour portraiture. This painting from 1963 shows Nyilasi’s early mastery as an artist.
