In this fanciful watercolour, Nyilasi presents his impressions of modern audience members reacting to the wild range of emotions expressed in Hector Berlioz’s explosive “Symphonie Fantastique” (1830), which musically expressed his dreams of fulfilled happiness as well as terrifying nightmares.
The symphony players are an implied presence in the middle of the stage lights and at the focus of the viewers’ attention.
The audience members are caught in a semi-darkness which suggests emotions triggered by subconscious experiences and reactions.
